The Crescent, Sassafras

This ensuite renovation project at Sassafras was a designer’s dream but not without its challenges for the building team owing to site conditions. Nestled in the beautiful Dandenong ranges, this magnificent residence was a testament to true craftsmanship, and had exquisite details scattered around the house. The ensuite was already finished beautifully in slabs of natural marble which stood the test of time. However, the aesthetics of the existing space was begging for an update and that’s where we came in.

The Design Process

With careful consideration of its natural setting, the design concept focused on retaining the charm of its surroundings and was used as a starting point of the renovation journey. To achieve this vision, the previously cold coloured interior was substituted for a much warmer palette- hues of Terracotta paired with natural timber, travertine tiles, orange and gold veining in the stone top and Sunrise gold Grohe tapware by Reece are just some of the details that lent towards the richness of this design aesthetic.

The choice of a freestanding bath, a floor mounted bath spout, full-width ledge in the shower and a single glass shower screen, further modernised the space. This complete with underfloor heating and heated towel rails adds to the sense of comfort that makes this ensuite feel like a perfect spa escape.
